Hero project: Humanities
How can we be a hero?
My idea of a hero would be someone who is brave and courageous enough to put other life before his own. A hero doesn't have to wear a mask, super stretchy tights, and have big muscles. A hero could be anyone around you. They just have to carry traits of a hero. Such as bravery, confidence, and pride. In our portion of the project we helped organization. The organization I helped was Access to Independence. We made a comic that included a hero and villain but it had to connect to the organization we were helping. We did this so we can spread publicity and show the importance of the organization. I worked very hard on this comic. I put as much effort on all my drafts as if they were final drafts.

Technology has impacted our world in a monumental way. It has molded everything that we see today. Our generation has no limits. We have created multiple forms of technology branching off each invention that is presented year round. For example, the cell phone, video games, and the internet. Fragment. But there's a side to it that has consequences. The cellphone is the key needed to the door of our new planet; however every invention has their advantages and disadvantages.
One positive attribute that comes with cell phones is the mobile aspect of it. There is always a form of communication and a way for that individual to be informed with current events. However, there is a downside to this statement researchers have found that, “The human body absorbs energy from devices that discharge radio frequency electromagnetic radiation.” This means that it can increase the risk of cancer. This is caused by the heating that the mobile device transfers to your body.
Another key point is that scientists have also found these devices to be yet another form of self harm to our health. “A study in 2004-2006 looking at the cerenat case-control data, found an increased risk of gliomas and meningiomas in the heaviest users.” Both gliomas and meningiomas are known to be a tumors that can be formed in the brain including the nervous system, spinal cord and brainstem. This can occur overtime with the heavy use of cellphone contact.
While both of these health risks are present in cell phone use there also positive sides to it. These devices allow kids to learn a form of responsibility and connect with their parents when away from home. Another important key component that comes with cell phone usage is simply the safety of the user. According to an online article, “Many models of these gadgets have very useful services, such as GPS and 24-7 hotlines, that can be accessed any time you are in distress.” Without a cell phone device, your own life can be put at risk. You wouldn't be able to call 911 for an emergency or place a call when experiencing suicidal thoughts. While many believe that these devices are harmful to our health, in reality they provide a sort of safety to our lives.
