In this project I was with a group that I’ve never been with before. These group member were Nadine Fletcher and Caleb Crozier. They were new people to work with so I wasn’t sure how to get them to work as hard as they can. But we ended up working well together. Before every day started we would plan out the whole day and set goals. This led us to be more encouraged by the hour to reach our goal and end the day with a success. We were in a good position and set a good mindset. The closer we got to the end of the project, the more stressed we would be and stay discouraged. We could grow on helping each other more often. Other than that the group was pretty positive.
I learned about a lot in Humanities. I learned the importance of revolutions and why they happen, I discovered my writing throughout the layers that I’m very proud of. I also found out something new everyday from my revolution (The American Revolution). All these revolutions need to be acknowledged because many things would be different if it wasn’t for those actions. Throughout this project we made powerpoints and did presentations revolving around our presentation. We had to follow specific prompts every week. All these revolutions teach a valuable lesson. That lesson is that you should always stand up for what you believe in because you never know what might occur. Overall this project has impacted not just as a person but as a student
Physics was a very complicated part of this project. I learned a lot of new equations. I learned how to find Potential energy, Mechanical Energy, Kinetic energy, and Velocity. This is not only going to be involved in school but it’s also used outside of school. Roller coasters would be a great example. The big dipper relies on gravity and only gravity.
Engineering was very fun in this project. When we first made the prototype, we found problems it could have at the time and that really influenced our final product. We realized how important it is for the beginning of the roller coaster to have as much momentum as possible. We also found that we can install our artifacts into the coaster. When we working on our final product, we found a lot of obstacles we had to overcome. Every time we got burnt, glued, and angry, we always got back up and pushed ourselves to success.
Exhibition was very enlightening. My group and I pushed ourselves to finish our coaster but we weren’t able to. I thought we were going to get a lot of negative feedback at the time. Once we began a lot of people found our coaster to be the most creative and they could tell we worked hard on it. My contribution was definitely needed in the group. At times my group didn’t work at all and I was the only one working on the coaster. But that didn’t discourage me. Here are the grades I believe I deserve:
Work Ethic: A
Collaboration: A
Oral Communication: A
Written Communication: B
Content Knowledge: A
I believe my strongest learning outcome is “Content Knowledge”. This project required a lot of hands on work. This hands on work was building. In middle school and home I was always involved with building and tools so that really helped my group. I also knew what would make our coaster the most durable. A learning outcome of mine that requires growth is “written Communication”. Overall this project was stressful but it was the seed to my growth as a leader.
